Everything you ever wanted to know about EMDR Intensives...

What is an EMDR Intensive, and how does it differ from traditional therapy sessions?

~The main difference between EMDR weekly therapy and an EMDR intensive is accelerated results in a shorter time period. ~Weekly sessions can be disjointed and slow due to managing the weekly life stressors that tend to arise and interfere with overall progress. ~EMDR Intensives are planned in advance to focus on specific issues that are creating barriers in your current life. ~This concentrated approach can often lead to more noticeable progress in a shorter time, as you’re able to work deeply and continuously rather than in smaller, spread-out sessions.

What should I do to prepare for an EMDR Intensive?

~Preparation may involve practicing learned self-compassion techniques and nervous system exercises, establishing supportive resources, and identifying specific goals for the intensive. ~You might be invited to write your thoughts and feelings pre/post sessions, review breathing exercises, or focus on mindfulness practices to support nervous system regulation. ~These preparatory steps can help you feel grounded and ready for the in-depth work of the intensive.

Are EMDR Intensives just talking about trauma for three hours?
Yuk !

Absolutely not! That would be certainly be a torturous experience. ~In order to regulate your nervous system throughout, activities in intensives may include listening to music of your choice that is regulating, participating in trauma releasing exercises to prevent any excess physical tension, reading of inspirational poems. breathwork, or art experiences. Your intensive will be tailored to your preferences and your ability to tolerate distress. ~Your safety and comfort will be of utmost priority throughout the process.

How do I know if an EMDR Intensive is right for me?

~EMDR Intensives can be great for people who have specific memories they want to process, are dealing with ongoing emotional struggles, or want to move forward faster than weekly therapy allows. ~ In order to determine if you are a good fit, you can participate in a 20 minute Ready to be FREE call which can be booked on the Contact page. ~ In the call, we will work together to assess your current ability to regulate your nervous system and your comfort level with feeling your feelings.  ~If we both agree you are a good fit for intensives, then we move forward in scheduling your intensives.

How does the process work to begin EMDR Intensives?

~After you have had your initial 20 minute free Ready to be Free Assessment and we agree EMDR Intensives are a good fit for you, you will have a 90 minute Intake. ~ In the intake, you will share more about you, your past, and your current goals.  In addition, we will review what coping strategies you are currently using. The Intake is $300 for the 90 min session. ~After the intake we will decide how many intensive sessions will be of most benefit to you based on your current needs and circumstances. Each 3 hour Intensive is $750.

How do I know it will be worth it for me to invest time and financial resources into EMDR Intensives?

~Unresolved trauma can quietly shape your life—showing up as anxiety, self-doubt, and difficulty forming close relationships. ~These patterns keep you stuck, using energy to manage pain rather than living fully. ~An EMDR intensive offers the focused space to process and release these burdens, allowing you to break free faster. As with anything, the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it. ~Imagine the relief of stepping away from these sessions feeling lighter, more present, and truly open to life. ~Investing in an intensive is investing in a future where you’re no longer held back by the past but are free to thrive where you can live with a sense of freedom, empowerment, and emotional resilience that no longer feels out of reach.
